Ranjit Sagar Dam: Situated on river Ravi, the dam is about an hour’s drive from the main city of Pathankot.

Nurpur Fort: About 1000 years old, this fort is historical heritage. It is located 25 kilometers outside the city limits.

Amritsar is only 40 kilometers from Batala. There are many discotheques and night clubs available here. The younger crowd can enjoy their weekends in one of these clubs which can be reached within two hours drive.

Alternately, this city is famous for its heritages all over the world. A weekend trip with family is a must while staying in Batala.

Golden Temple: The dome made of pure gold, this temple attracts not only Sikhs but also followers of other religions. The architecture is its main attraction.

Jallianwala Bagh: Epitome of cruelty during the British Raj, the park remains open from 0600 hrs to 1900 hrs in summer and 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs in winter.

Wagah Border: The bonding between India and Pakistan happen here. It’s a must visit for every tourist coming to Amritsar.

Gurdaspur provides one with the panoramic view of rural Punjab. There are many places to stay in different towns of Gurdaspur. It is included in the weekend getaway list since it provides a few spots where tourists can stay and relax a couple of days without doing anything.

Mukheshwar Temple:
This temple is situated on the bank of river Ravi and is known for its antiquity. Curiously it is believed that Arjun and Draupadi visited this temple and two spots are named after Arjun and his younger brother Sahadev.

Fish Park: People come to this well maintained park to relax and spend time chatting and playing outdoor games. It is best to visit this weekend relaxation spot in winters.


The nearest hill station is Lansdowne which is about an overnight journey by train to Raiwala Junction. Tourists must plan at least a five day tour to this hill station for a tranquil and unperturbed experience.

People staying in Batala enjoy the moderate temperature most of the year. The best picnic spot inside Batala is the gardens of Hazira, Shamsher Khan’s tomb.
